These small carriages were introduced in the beginning of the 20th century on some of the steepest streets of Lisbon. And when I say steep, that means steep...

Small and Big
Good Old Tram
Tram cars in Lisbon are awesome. They are small, outdated, rolling of very narrow lines in order to squeeze themselves on narrower streets.
Elevador da Lavra
History in Public Toilet
This very short and expressive history of Portugal was painted on a public toilet ceiling. Astonishing.

Sintra Castle, Sintra, Portugal
Build in the nineteenth century, with flamboyant architecture.
My Street
Calcada do Carmo, the street where I stayed, has an inclination of over 25%. Something usual in Lisbon.
Convento do Carmo
Carmo Convent. The ceiling has collapsed in 1755, due to the biggest earthquake in the history of Portugal. It was never rebuilt since.
Thoughts from a Toilet
Absolutely fascinating texts written on a door and walls of a public toilet.

Elevador da Santa Justa
Built in 1902 by one of Gustave Eiffel's students, the lift connects the lower streets of the Baixa Pombalina with the higher Largo do Carmo. It has 45 meters high.
The bridge from elevator to Largo do Carmo is seen here.
Ponte Vasco da Gama, Lisbon, Portugal
After struggling to reach the site on time for the sunset and low tide, I finally got this frame.
